What is a travel consultation?

Travel Blogging in Puebla Mexico

If you’ve got travel-relayed questions, I’ve got answers.

A travel consultation provides personalized travel advice based on first-hand experience. A travel consultation is NOT the same as an appointment with a travel agent – I’m not trying to sell you anything, and I won’t be booking anything for you.

While I can offer advice on hotels, transportation, and cities and regions, my expertise and interest lies in crafting an amazing experience that is both realistic and affordable based on your travel goals, dreams and budgets…  not in dealing with credit cards and booking agents.

Or, we might not even be talking about specific destinations. It all depends on you. Maybe you’re considering a long term trip, but you’re not sure how to budget for it, or you don’t know how to approach your work to negotiate for a remote position. I’ve been there, and I’m here for you.

I can also help with expat life questions and issues, everything from landing your first job abroad to finding the best neighborhood in your new city. I love to provide advice and act as a sounding board for you to bounce ideas off of, because I’ve been in the trenches of expat living for the past 5 years.

Still don’t know whether a travel consultation is right for you? That’s okay! Take the first step in creating the trip of a lifetime (or that expat life leap!) by emailing me for a free preliminary consultation.

If you decide to proceed, travel consultations are more affordable than you might think, starting at only 25USD for a 50 minute session.

Wondering which destinations I’m able to help with?

Check here for a list of all the countries I’ve visited. I am particularly knowledgeable about Thailand, Mexico, the USA, and Israel (my husband is Israeli). Even if I can’t help you (which we’ll figure out in the initial FREE consultation), I will be able to refer you to a travel professional that can.

What kinds of topics can I assist with?

I have extensive experience traveling with family (including multi-generational travel), planning a destination wedding abroad, moving internationally and traveling with dogs, budgeting and saving for travel, language learning abroad, solo female travel, medical tourism, and expat life (in Brazil, Mexico, and Thailand) including finding jobs, making friends, and establishing your home. In addition, I have an in-house expert on international security, literally, via my husband who works as a professional international security and personal safety expert and is always willing to assist as a guest consultant.

What makes me qualified to work as a travel consultant?

I’ve lived (in Bangkok, Rio de Janeiro, Puebla, and Mexico City) and traveled abroad extensively for the past 5 years. I have an eclectic range of interests, and a wide variety of training. I have bachelor’s degrees in both psychology and in religion, I am a certified yoga instructor, and I’m currently working on my master’s degree in psychotherapy. In the past I’ve held jobs in the areas of medical tourism (specifically fertility), marketing, and online business.

What if your travel concerns are, well, a bit more complicated?

I’ll pour some margaritas and let’s get cracking!

Meeting with me as your travel consultant can also help provide focus and clarity to more complex situations.

…like what?

Maybe you just need that little PUSH to get going on your travel plans. You’ve been dreaming about taking a gap year and traveling Southeast Asia, or six month to travel through Central America, but you can’t seem to take the first step. I’m here to help you get started.

Maybe you need support. You’re running out of money but you don’t want to leave Mexico City, or you fell in love with a fellow expat and aren’t sure where things are going. In addition to helping with the practicalities of living and traveling abroad, it’s been a crazy ride thus far and I can provide empathy and a listening ear for situations that friends back home might not understand.

I don’t have all the solutions, but I do have a hell of a lot of experience and a heartfelt dedication to the wonderful world of travel.

Travel consultations are more affordable than you’d think.

I charge a rate of 30USD per 50-minute audio consultation (Skype, Facebook Messenger, or FaceTime), and 25USD per 50-minute chat consultation (WhatsApp, Viber, Facebook Messenger, or Skype Chat).

You can also book half hour sessions for a rate of 20USD for audio or 15USD for chat.

All payments are due via PayPal at least 48 hours in advance of the consultation.

Discounts are available for packages and a sliding scale for lower income.

Get in touch today for a free initial consultation (15 minutes, on a chat platform)!
